Rebecca Stoltzfus Mast
Rebecca Stoltzfus Mast (1830-1918) is our two-greats grandmother on our mother's side. She was born in Lancaster County and lived all of her married life near Morgantown, Pennsylvania. On December 16, 1851, she married John Miller Mast with whom she had 7 children. Her father, Tennessee John Stoltzfus, and her son, John S. Mast, were both bishops in Amish/Mennonite churches. Her younger sister, Sarah, is our great-grandmother on Dad's side. Her brother-in-law, Isaac Mast, is our two-greats grandfather on both Mom's and dad's sides.
Wedding Reception Article The article from the Reading Times tells about the wedding reception of Amanda Mast, Rebecca's grandaughter, and the groom, William Smoker. The article is a who's who of the Amish community in Morgantown in 1914. Included in the story are a list of the foods that were served including 75 pies. Rebecca's brother, Jacob Stoltzfus, walked 14 miles to the reception having recently moved from Kansas to Warwick, Pennsylvania, and not having access to a team.
